When creating your MyPlayer, more often than not, you want to build a player that can shoot from behind the arc. Who doesn’t want to shoot like Steph Curry and not be a liability when it comes to floor spacing? The City is filled with players that cannot be left open without punishment, and you can recreate that with your MyPlayer.
Obviously everything in this game takes skill and has a learning curve if you want to excel. Along with taking the time to master the art of shooting, you’ll need to find the most efficient way to be great as fast as possible and in NBA 2K23 that is done by choosing the right jump shot. Unfortunately, you can’t just put your favourite players jump shot on your MyPlayer and expect to shoot just like him. To find the best jump shot, you need to accurately choose your Base, Release 1 and 2 and decide how you are going to blend them together, along with the shot speed. Jump shot crafting can make it easier and more comfortable to shoot, and also give you the biggest green window, which obviously leads to more guaranteed makes.
Below, you will find the best jumpshots for your MyPlayer. They will include which animations work best together and how to best blend each one.
Best Jumpshot overall: Kuzma/Gay/Bryant
- Base: Kyle Kuzma
- Release 1: Rudy Gay
- Release 2: Kobe Bryant
- Blending: 20/80
- Speed: Very Quick (5/5)
This is universally the best jumpshot which can work for anyone. Both dribblers and catch-and-shoot players can use this to get their shooting to the next level. The benefits of this jumper are that it is easy to learn (above-head cue) and it has a very big green window. As this jump shot will work for every build, you can equip it only if your player’s height is 6’5”-6’10” and his Mid-Range and/or Three Point Shot is at least 80. This year, 2K restricts you from equipping certain shots if you don’t meet their requirements.
Best overall Jumpshot on next-gen: Kuzma/Gay/Randle
- Base: Kyle Kuzma
- Release 1: Rudy Gay
- Release 2: Julius Randle
- Blending: 85/15
- Speed: Very Quick (5/5)
This is a great jump shot because of its insane speed and green window, and is incredibly tough to contest. It does come with a learning curve because of how release speeds vary depending on the contest, but once you play a bit with this jump shot, it becomes very natural. The height requirements for this jump shot are the same as previously mentioned (6’5”-6’10”), but Mid-Range or Three Point Shot minimum is at 77.
Best Jumpshot with the largest green window: Hardaway/Harden/Harden
- Base: Penny Hardaway
- Release 1: James Harden
- Release 2: James Harden
- Blending: 100/0
- Speed: Very Quick (5/5)
You can look for a suitable Release 1 and 2 blend if James Harden doesn’t work for you, but do not touch the Base and Speed of it. Penny Hardaway gives you one of the most comfortable and green bases in the game. This jump shot requires you to be under 6’10” with at least 83 Mid-Range or Three-Pointer.
Best Jumpshot for a sharpshooter: Thor/Thor/Thor
- Base: JT Thor
- Release 1: JT Thor
- Release 2: JT Thor
- Blending: 100/0
- Speed: Very Quick (5/5)
This is a JT Thor jump shot edited to the fastest shot speed. It is perfect for all those Klay Thompson type of players. If your role on the court is to take catch-and-shoot threes, then this shot is for you. Requirements for this shot is only for height to be 6’5”-6’10” and Mid-Range and/or Three-Point Shot at least 68.
Best Jumpshot for point guards: Harden/Curry/Curry
- Base: James Harden
- Release 1: Stephen Curry
- Release 2: Stephen Curry
- Blending: 50/50
- Speed: Quick (4/5)
Point Guards need to be able to get their shot off quickly and comfortably because most of their shots come off dribble. Who better to use than some of the great off-dribble shooters in NBA history – James Harden and Stephen Curry. Bumping the speed down to 75%, you will gain traction of the shot and your release queue will be clearer. You need to be 6’5” or under to be able to create this jump shot.
Best Jumpshot for small forwards: Bonga/Gay/Randle
- Base: Isaac Bonga
- Release 1: Rudy Gay
- Release 2: Julius Randle
- Blending: 23/77
- Speed: Very Quick (5/5)
If the sharpshooter jump shot doesn’t fill your wants and needs in terms of finding a comfortable jump shot, perhaps this will do the trick. If that jump shot had a high jump, this one barely lifts off the ground, but is very easy to green regularly for wings. It looks unconventional, but it might be what takes your shooting game to the next level! In order to have this jump shot you need to be 6’5”-6’10” tall and have at least 74 Mid-Range or Three-Point shot.
Best Jumpshot for big men: Wagner/Bird/Pokusevski
- Base: Moritz Wagner
- Release 1: Larry Bird
- Release 2: Aleksej Pokusevski
- Blending: 74/26
- Speed: Very Quick (5/5)
As this is a big man jump shot, it is not the fastest, but this one could take the cake as one of the smoothest jumpers out there for big men. Setting your release timing on Early in controller settings will make it feel fast and smooth, and greening with this will not be a problem. To get this equipped on your MyPlayer, your height needs to be at least 6’10” and you need at least 80 Mid-Range or Three-Point shot.
